Brown Walker Planners (formerly Taintor & Associates) partnered with the town’s Master Plan Committee to create a comprehensive two-volume Master Plan to guide the coastal community’s future growth and development. The eighteen month public process, including over 20 public meetings and a visioning charrette, led to a shared community vision and clear goals. The Plan’s directed strategies address town-wide opportunities and additionally focus on seven geographic areas identified by the process. The Plan also provides an examination of the town’s development review process and offers recommendations for creating a process that is transparent, objective and efficient.

Priority strategies addressed:

• Transportation corridors, as gateways and key commercial opportunities
• Revitalized and expanded town center with a new ‘main street’
• Preserved and restored natural resources with enhanced physical and visual access
• Expanded housing opportunities throughout the varied neighborhoods
