Newburyport Strategic Land Use Plan Chosen As "Outstanding Comprehensive Plan"
The Newburyport Strategic Land Use Plan, prepared by Taintor & Associates and Dodson Associates, was recognized by the Massachusetts Chapter of the American Planning Association with its 2004 award for Outstanding Comprehensive Plan. The award for Outstanding Comprehensive Planning recognizes a plan, program or process of unusually high merit. Factors in making the award include innovation, quality, transferability, implementation, and comprehensiveness.

The Strategic Land Use Plan used visioning, public participation, and technical analysis to plan for natural resource protection and economic development across a 1500-acre study area in the southern portion of the City.
